Current Event 2
The current I did was about skepticism of Palin is growing, and some believe that it is dragging the Republican vote down. Palin was rated as highly as McCain and Obama about a month ago, but a few missteps has caused a loss of faith in her. A lot of people tuned in to her interview with Katie Couric and ended up being disappointed with her answers in the interview. Polls now show that Palin has been slipping over the past few days alone and it is becoming apparent that the experience issue is becoming her highest hurdle.
Week 2- Election Post
I think that the most important issue in the 2008 election is our economy. This problem is both a major national problem and a state problem. Our bad debts have caused a credit crunch that along with high energy prices, have dragged the nation into a recession. McCain and Obama have very different approaches in solving this problem. While McCain wants to follow the plan President Bush set up, Obama is in the process of convincing the American people that this plan has been ineffective so far and that a new plan is needed.
A state issue that concerns me the most are the food an gas prices. Due to our dependency on foreign oil, the gas prises have soared which also caused a raise in food prices. The raise in prices has hurt many American families and both candidates understand that we need to shift away from foreign oil.
Opinions on who has won the debates so far really depend on who you ask. Personally, I think McCain showed more class during the debates, while Obama kind of came off bad. It was obvious that Obama was trying to get McCain angry by looking at him through out the entire debate and adressing him by his first name. I agree with people on the fact that Obama is a much better speaker than McCain, but my opinion on Obama is based on the way he handles himself and his "assertiveness".
Electronic media is playing a huge role in this election. I think it is addressing the problem of our generation not being involved with politics. I basically live through electronics and the fact that it is easier to get information on the election, it is easier to become involved.
